Just watched this movie and thought I should repost this very thought up insight on the film, while I finish my research on Joker and Harley for the next part of my Suicide Squad post 🙂 If you ever watched Sucker Punch and hated it, maybe consider giving this post a read; I don’t expect to change any minds but maybe another perspective is needed. If you loved the movie on the other hand, then great! You’ll still love this !
The main idea behind Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch” is simple – you already have the tools you need to succeed; if you can imagine a way to get what you want, reality will bend to your whim. It’s your basic call to action set upon a backdrop of steampunk Nazi zombies, giant robotic demon samurai, and tons of eye candy in the form of action and nubile young women. It would’ve been a difficult message to get, quite honestly, if it weren’t stated by both the narrator and Dr. Vera Gorski.
Not that there’s anything wrong with eye candy.
I’m not going to disguise the fact that I enjoyed this critically-polarizing film. You either love it or you hate it, and I’m of the former opinion. What I liked most about Sucker Punch is that it’s one of those films that’s so messy with its metaphors that it’s open to…
Since it’s my birthday today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
So I thought I should post something different today!
Seriously, there are many, many games out there and sometimes different genres tend to intersect to create something new that more people will enjoy. Dating sims are becoming a popular cross-genre for some of them, mostly RPGs. So here I’m going to list 5 games, from popular picks, that you might have not known were otome games!
Those that don’t know, My Candy Love (or Sweet Crush in the UK version/ Amour Sucré in the original French version) is an online otome game which you can play by logging on the website everyday to get Action Points and Money in order to proceed. It’s divided into “episodes” and your choices are consequential episode by episode as the story goes on. There are also around 6 main love interests (up to now; and I’m not counting the guys that you can flirt with only in one episode like Jade/Dajan or Alexy…for…obvious reasons for those that know him… though I’m not sure where Chinomiko, the author, is trying to go with him yet. Who knows..hahah ). The heroine is also completely customizable with hair, eye color and clothes.
Currently it reached to episode 29 and it’s still ongoing.
I was into this game a long time ago, mostly during my highschool years and I recently got back to it and I saw how many people still have difficulty dealing with the guys of this otome game…By that I definitely do not mean that I’ve mastered the ways to deal with each and every one of them, but I do consider myself to have a certain type of “feeling” when it comes to it and I would like to help you, if possible, to get through the game faster without going off the route of the guy that you like or loose any event with him/them (? when pertinent XD).
Wouldn’t normally mention this if the header would have been made entirely by me, but my good friend, Alex ( HorrorMonkey ) helped me greatly with the background, lineart and positioning of the butterflies. My work was only the basic sketch! Thank you, Alex for being awesome!
PS: As you can see, I also changed the theme to fit the header better. The old one was kind of sketchy when it came to headers and quite limited. I hope this will be the start of a whole customization process of OtogeMeow XD Cheers!
…I don’t know how much I want to welcome 2016 with the Diabolik Lovers guys above, but still…*coughs* Azusa is totally fine though ! Shuu too! They can totally stay! *coughs*
Another year has passed and it’s time to look back at it, come to terms with that hasn’t worked and gather up the motivation for a plain new year, ready for us to write it with the golden thread of our lives once again. Future is something so ambiguous though, but depending of everybody’s way of seeing it, it can become either a good thing or a bad and scary thing. I find it that a new year brings a new beginning everytime; it doesn’t fix everything in your life like deleting the words on a blackboard, but you can choose to change your attitudes, your way of taking things, your way to interact with others, which you think you did wrongly the first time. It’s a way of improvement of oneselves.
About OtogeMeow now, even though I only started posting regularly from 5 months ago, I think that a lot has happened and looking back, I think I managed to improve my writing style a lot and also my ability of figuring out why something that I watched or read impressed or didn’t impress me. I realized that there are a lot of factors to consider when judging and expressing yourself and I never imagined that it could have been so entertaining to write my thoughts on what I enjoy. I also realized some essential differences between one media and another, when before I just put them all in the same pot.
Then there’s the WordPress community. You guys are the most warming bunch of fluff that I have ever met anywhere on the internet! Met some good people and made new friends with the same interests, exchanged contacts with said people and I hope to be able to keep in contact with them for a long time ! Steph, Leafy and Corinne, you know who you are. LOL
What are your plans for OtogeMeow this year? …you might ask.
Customizing the appearance of the blog and giving it a bit more “character”.
I will start the Light Novel category early in the year.
I plan to further develop my Videogame category, sharing with you more titles than I did in 2015.
I plan to further enhance the Let’s talk posts. There are many topics that I wanted to talk about and develop, yet I didn’t have the chance.
Point 4 leads me to believe that I need to start focusing more on organizing and scheduling my posts for more efficiency.
Maybe give a hand to a team in the development of an otome game…I don’t know, that might just happen, right? 8D
I definitely want to cover a veriety of stuff, so you can expect some occasional surprises!
And that would be all for now...What are YOUR plans for 2016? Let me know in the comments below!
Anyway, Neko’s New Years rant ended ! I’ll let you get back to your eating, celebrating or staying up all night playing otome games or watching anime/drama or reading…your pick!
Merry Christmas! to everybody that celebrates it ! …and everybody that doesn’t, still MERRY CHRISTMAS!
For some of you, Christmas means the birth of Jesus; personally, as you might know already, I’m not a very religious person despite being Christian, so for me Christmas isn’t important for that, but it’s important because it brings people together, even people that are far away or that are not here anymore. It’s an especially warm time of year, where we can exchange presents, make jokes and laugh as much as our possibilities afford us to. It’s the time where everybody, or at least most people, is just a little bit more generous than usual and that’s a wonderful thing.
A quote from Thomas S. Monson says that “Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values.” Christmas is the most fitted time of the year to leave all our prejudices, worries, bad times outside the door and cherish what we currently have, because know that somebody might have it much worse!
I hope and wish to every and each one of you that reads this to have a good and happy time today and celebrate to the best of your abilities!

7 Facts about Neko pt.2
-Neko’s relationships with some fictional characters that signed her life-
I’m ashamed to recognize that I got some soft spots for Diabolik Lovers lately…or maybe I always had them but didn’t want to acknowledge them because DiaLovers goes against lots of my thoughts on relationships and, generally, on a moral point of view. Let me keep “flaming” the anime, but characters that I thought I couldn’t stand, now I realized that they have a certain charm to them, especially Laito…and recently Kou. Azusa, Shuu and Subaru are still my lights of hope and love though, and I was never ashamed to recognize this! As for Kanato and Reiji, I would still nope out of the room if I were ever left alone with them…Sorry!
I am a big fan of the Dragon Age game series and those of you that heard of it, might know that there’s a “romance” system going on between you, as the main character, and characters from your team. I think I’ve established a small personal record as to how many times somebody could romance ONE SINGLE character. I’m speaking of Fenris from Dragon Age 2. He’s a slave elf coming from Tevinter who reached Kirkwall in his attempt to free himself from his master. He doesn’t remember his past before being turned to a slave because of a magic experiment that his master put him through (one of the many things); his hair also became white from the traumatical experience of the experiment. As a consequence, Fenris is generally untrusting, especially of mages and people in general, and often shows an aggressive and impulsive nature. Lovely angsty guy, right? I’ve currently romanced him 6 times with all classes-Hawke, both as a male and a female and pursued both friendship and rivalry paths. I still didn’t manage to romance any other character in DA2 (but I swear I will…). It’s overall the first time that I managed to be this loyal in a game with several romance options. XD
Talking about Bioware games, Mass Effect game series has a special place in my heart for several reasons. One of them is that it taught me that even if the characters are not handsome and don’t even look “human”, they can be more fascinating than anybody. Aka looks don’t matter. Somebody can be gorgeus in anybody’s eyes as long as they have a personality that appeals to you. This was the case of Garrus Vakarien. He currently represents my favorite romance available in Mass Effect saga and I wouldn’t exchange him for any other handsome human. (yes, not even Kaidan)
There was a character that I really hated when I was younger, with every fiber of my being because: 1. He was like a thorn in almost everybody’s spine. 2. He liked to use everybody for the sake of one person. 3. He was the only obstacle for my favorite pairing to end up together. I’m speaking about Kuran Kaname from Vampire Knight. And I’m not joking when I say that I despised him. However, as I grew up and continued to read the manga, during the last 30 chapters or so, I started to view him differently: more from his point of view, rather than my butthurt point of view. The conclusion that I reached after a couple of chapters, then looking back to the development of his character in time, was that Kaname was actually the best written character of Vampire Knight story altogether. His changes never happened out of the blue, but only triggered by the enviroment he lived in. He also got awakened in the current setting not out of his own will, but because of the greediness of others; he was forced to live a life that he didn’t want to live and the only thing he managed to grasp upon was the pureness of the heroine, Yuuki. He did everything only to keep her safe, even stuff that could be considered morally wrong, even stuff that ultimately hurt him, but he couldn’t let himself stop. To me, Kaname became the most “human”character from the whole cast and one of my favorite male protagonists of all times.
I never met a female character that actually made me question my sexuality before Chloe Price from Life is Strange. I would literally go homosexual for her. lol I’m not even joking. Chloe could be considered the main love interest in Life is Strange and that really couldn’t make me happier!
I have difficulty accepting my love for Snow Villiers from Final Fantasy XIII. A friend of mine keeps teasing me about it, but for some reason I’m really stubborn into showing affection for this character and recognize that he’s s-s-se-xy……*coughs* He’s one of those characters that deeply annoyed me at first for his overly-positive and “I am a hero” speeches. To me he was simply useless and irresponsible, definitely not ready to take on his “hero” role, but replaying the game I realized that it wasn’t the case. Snow didn’t call himself a hero because he really believed to be one, but because he felt like he needed to give others hope in adverse situations, he wanted to be reliable and make others feel safe for as long as he could manage to keep the pressure on himself. That made him make lots of mistakes as a consequence, but should he be blamed for wanting to do good? In the end he did become a hero. But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to openly say that I like him. <- though I just did, but indirectly !
My first anime character crush was Asakura Hao from Shaman King. I had an almost-obsession with him for 3 years of my life and I adopted his star symbol as my lucky charm. Even today I have an attraction to the star pattern and I have a star tattoo on my back. Talk about influence…
…seriously, I can’t choose between the awesome blogs I follow anymore. To me all of you are special so I would like to break the last rule and nominate everybody that actually took the time to read this post and owns a blog. If we don’t know eachother, leave me a comment ! It could be a good chance to get to know some new blogs and new people as well!
Note: I’ll keep the Sequels and Date Scenarios for the Sub Stories review. This time I will only speak about the Main routes!

You read that right. As busy as I currently am with my exams and studies, I couldn’t help but start spazzing when I heard the news of this Life is Strange otome game. The word “fanmade” doesn’t have to necessarily discourage you; the writing style is quite nice, even though I don’t really know if the characters act OOC for the most time, but it’s to keep in mind that it happens in an alternative setting where Rachel is still there and nothing ever happened. Oh, also there’s no Warren option, so I’m sorry, Marren fans out there…The options are girl-only and you can pick between Chloe, Rachel, Kate and Victoria. Again, I am sorry for those that expected Warren or sexy-cray Jefferson. Lastly, it is just a demo.
You can read more and download the demo from HERE.
