[Anime Review] The anime that proves reverse harems can be more than just romance [Hanasakeru Seishonen]

Episodes: 39
Source: Manga

Opening video:

I’ll start this by stating that I am aware that Hanasakeru Seishonen is ultimately a “romance anime”, however it doesn’t stop it from having quite a few interesting sub-genres that just don’t usually happen to turn into the focus of the story for a very long time like it did in this anime.

But oh boy, Neko actually enjoyed a show!

[Anime Review&Let’s talk] Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei – Why did this anime divide the anime community?

When going on MAL or in any comment section regarding MKNR or by its English title, The Irregular at the Magic High School, you’re going to have to face a debate between two groups of people: those that hated it and those that loved it (most of the time, not trying to generalize). I remember that when it was airing back in 2014, the anime community kept talking about it; some referred to it as “one of the best animes as of late”, some others referred to it as “an overrated piece of sh*t”. That usually tends to happen whenever there is a hyped anime, but the “hate” regarding this one in particular was triggered by two main concepts of the anime itself that goes beyond being simply subjective and beyond claiming it as just another “lame story”.

Note: I would like to note that this is simply from my personal experience with the anime and its fanbase. If you did not encounter the same hostility towards it, you might have been one of the lucky people. haha

The words “original” and “short” kind off bother me lol

[Unboxing with Neko] Amnesia DVD and Demon Prince of Momochi House Vol.1

This is not actually a significant unboxing (though I do plan to do those sometimes in the future), but I’m very happy to have finally gotten my Amnesia DVD and the new manga I’m planning to collect!

First of all, the manga! 1043cca3a2631f1c84f38bd98331491d9b91820105d413a28b0522d3194fe59a

This is the Italian version of Demon Prince of Momochi House ( Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ouji; 百千さん家のあやかし王子 ), shoujo manga by Aya Shouto. She’s also known for titles like He’s my only Vampire and Kiss of Rose Princess. The main reason why I thought you guys would be interested to see this is because all (or almost) of Aya Shouto‘s mangas are reverse harems (or have very obvious elements of it). Demon Prince of Momochi House is not much different, however, like He’s my only Vampire, we pretty much get to know who the canon pairing is from the very first few pages.

Synopsis: On her sixteenth birthday, orphan Himari Momochi inherits her ancestral estate that she’s never seen. Momochi House exists on the barrier between the human and spiritual realms, and Himari is meant to act as guardian between the two worlds. But on the day she moves in, she finds three handsome squatters already living in the house, and one seems to have already taken over her role!

Aya Shouto‘s art also happens to be simply gorgeous, so I tend to buy her stuff no matter what the story is because I simply love to even just stare at the pictures. lol

And now the DVD! Now, you know that only typing Amnesia on my blog will probably come out with a lot of posts regarding it so it’s obvious that I’m a big Amnesia fan. While the anime didn’t manage to stand up next to its otome game counterpart, I really wanted to have it! (Sorry for the flash, it was already dark outside when I got them…)

This is the UK version and it’s really a simple DVD case, no fancy box, no freebies, nothing and really, the only feeling of having it makes up for the simpleness. What made me gasp, though, is inside…

I knew that the DVDs wouldn’t be just simple-white, but I thought they would have the logo on it and that’s all. I was surprised to see Shin and Ikki staring back at me instead and behind them there’s this pretty picture of heroine and Orion.

I swear I will one day buy an Amnesia artbook!  Like Aya Shouto‘s drawings, Amnesia artsyle has something that draws me in.

The DVD has both Japanese and English audio with English subs. The English dub is not exactly horrible, but I wish I could un-hear most parts of it…Especially Toma’s voice…

Now off I go to marathon Amnesia anime again! Have a nice weekend!

[Anime Review] Noragami Aragoto – Corruption vs Loyalty: Which one is the most dangerous?

Episodes: 13
Studio: Bones
Synopsis: The world consists of two parts: the near shore and far shore. The near shore is the place where people reside, while the far shore is the place for deities and ayakashi, which are emotional fragments that can possess humans and cause trouble. So it is a deity’s responsibility to remove those ayakashi from the near shore with the help of weapons called Shinki, made from the spirits of dead people. Noragami Aragoto continues the adventures of Yato in his quest to obtain a shrine and reinstate his God status. (MAL)

Noragami is one of those series that managed to bring a set of conflicting feelings inside my heart, especially when it comes to this second season. Usually, I don’t get conflicted easily, but this season managed to do it through several elements.

Yet troubled by new dreams and apparitions mentioning a mysterious “Eve,” Yui’s life is suddenly once again – quite literally – turned upside down when she and the Sakamaki brothers are involved in a fiery car crash. The incident heralds the appearance of four new vampires, the Mukami tribe, and to her dismay these dashing young men have their eyes and fangs set on Yui as well!

(Source: YTV)

Ok, so, only me finds that comma in-between “more” and “blood” to be awfully distracting? I wanted to bite my fingers for having to put it there. Like what does it mean? “More” Diabolik Lovers, version “Blood”? *sighs* First review of the year and a bad one… Continue reading

[NEWS] Norn9 first PV aired !

The video first debuted at this past weekend’s Animate Girls Festival in Tokyo.
While I’m pretty mesmerized by the sound of it, the quality of the animation seems slightly blurred when I go full screen. I don’t know if it’s just the video though, I’m expecting more than pretty sceneries here. However, I still can’t wait! The anime will air in January of next year.
